I cant decide if it was Marius Gracchus talking about rebels, and the Senate ignoring his advice to meet them in battle.. and the resulting rebel march to Rome, Marius "dieing" to escape the rebel threats on his life and really hiding with the legions in the east while the rebels did exactly as he said they would: sack Rome....

OR... the entire Lucius Carus life.

One: Lucius Vitellius Junior.. the other: Iovanianus Vallentinus Junior....
Presently: Tiberius Lucius Carus
Sometimes: Nick of the North

The most obcene was back in 2004. JayMichael's first character and my second character landing in Cappodocia with just a few hundred men and a handful of ships to save the Cappodocians from the Seleucids. Roman abandoned us, it was just me and Jay and whatever wits and skill we had. We didn't do to bad at first, put together an army, got an alliance with the Parthians. Only to be killed and betrayed by the Cappodicians.

Definately the Res Publica Hispanica episode was also quite good. Declaring indepedence from Rome, taking on and defeating Raeus Vitellius. Killing Lucius Verus. My only regret was returning to Rome after winning! I should have held out for more!

Best in character memory was when Vibius Varro was found innocent at his trial by judgment of Pertinax Veno and then turned around and subsequently declared Pertinax Veno, Emperor on behalf of the Senate by demand of the people.

Worst in character memory would be when Augustus realized halfway through trial, that he was set up.

Best OOC memory would be holding onto the finalized 46 page scenario of the original "Rising of the Tides (worked on by Mike, myself, and Maximus)," and thinking, "Jesus, Vibius is finally going to be Emperor."

Of course naturally, the worst OOC memory would be me finishing "Rising of the Tides part VII," and realizing that Vibius was now dead.

My best character was Castor Augustus Servo, did a lot of killing then rebelled always fun. My worst point was when D'Arcy the then young Augustus Titus Sabacco got my first character Brutus Castor Servo killed, cheeky man.

Saying that I had a character called Augustus Trunicus Agrippa and he had an affair with the Secundo's misses, who was played at the time by Jodie who was also playing the Emperor and a Senator, plus god knows how many others.

My own best memory, if not the times in Cappadocia with Ed, were when Micah (Antonius Tacitus Disius and I (Tullius Quinus Vitellius) were being harrassed by Kevin (Brutus Terpus as PP, before he was Emp) for being too outspoken and gaing influence against him. Jay Yoon was still Vibius Varro, growing in power, and I think Kevin arrested Micah to keep him from opposing Jay Yoon (I may be wrong). I managed to steal the PG from Kevin and arrest him, forcing the release of Micah. Despite the differing political views IC between Micah and I, it was the start of a beneficial IC relationship between out characters.

This was of course AFTER Ed (as Marcus Darius Julianus) and I (still TQV) were also arrested by Jay Yoon for forming the Populares and being threats to his growing traditionalist dominance over the city and Senate. That too was fun.

My worst memory I supposew would be when some little turd of a backstabber (I can't remember his real name, but his IC name was Honorius- HA!) told Agrippa Marius Vitellius that I had planned, with the WHOLE rest of the Senate, to kill him... so instead of supporting my bid for Emperor, he took that information with his army- killed the recently retired Emperor Pertinax Veno- and then marched on Rome to see to it he acted like Sulla. He had me killed... of course, making himself out to be some savior. This also pairs with another terrible memory, where I was supposed to get out of prison and NOT die then (approved by JOM), but then the death was rushed by D'Arcy (A. Titus Sabaco, GM). Arch and stuff.

However, I didn't cry like some other players who didn't always win. I took a week or two off and bounced back. :P

My second biggest regret as Vibius Varro was not killing Fruity Tullie while I had him arrested overnight.

During my arrest orders to the Pg at the time, I specified he was to be unspoiled.

I regret it. Regret Regret Regret.

I regret not getting Emperor Honorius Julianus to execute Consul Publius Varro when he was imprisoned for speaking against the emperor.

Kind of late but:

Best moment: Plotting as Julius Cassius Verus to kill emperor Varro while being offered countless bribes from behind.

Worst moment: Plan goes wrong, hardcore praetorians cut my throat and leave me to die, emperor Varro died a few hours later in game in a battle  .

Oh for a first character I think it was fun :) , I did the same as Jay except it was a few months heh.

Best memory? I killed a guy with a pen, I thought that was pretty cool.

I regret the way I approached the Cyrene scenarios...but if I had done it differently I may not have gotten to kill a guy with a pen...so hey, funny how things work out!

I think potentially my best memory was when Jason (Augustus Lupidius) lead the Justinian rebels in that battle against Emperor Pompeius Varro and my character at the time (Decius Verus) was leading the center. It was great because the entire time everyone started sucking up to the Emperor in the Senate and kept saying "They don't have a chance in hell". All of the sudden turns out a week later we win the battle, and I convinced Cicero Julianus, the Emperor's right hand man to take him out, and then we ended up sacking Rome.

My biggest regret in the game so far was that I think I've given up on pc's too quickly. For example even though the rebellion ended, I think after Augustus died it would've been neat to have Decius Verus lead the Justinian legions in the east for those years under the Seleucids. Or on Metellus Dio I could've become a mercenary or done something else cool instead of having him fall on his sword. Meh live and learn.

Nice topic, one I've only just seen:-

Too many good memories - major ones would be my first battles, kicking arse thanks to a nice intro from Phil. Also, the two victories over the Persians (the first one better even than Ben's own - he'll tell you it wasn't but he always was a filthy liar) - both really great battles (and great victories if I may sound immodest), but even better, done with the input of so many other players. Also, assisting in the fall of Augustus Varro was spectacularly good - myself and Ben (Tiberius Vitellius) were so excited to finally take him down, on the same day AAV also died... Generally, my years as Praetorian Prefect were all brilliant...

Worst moments - first, losing the Prefect-ship when our new joint Emperor's decided I had become a little too powerful, and being shipped off to the provinces. It's unfortunate that my influence had become so much that I wouldn't take the throne, but had become far too dangerous to stay so close to power...

I also didn't enjoy the whole Gothic thing either, found it rather... unbalanced we'll say.

Also, the day I became Emperor - worst mistake ever, and knew as soon as I began that I had zero interest in running the whole Empire. Watching it fall apart was difficult, and more than partly of my own making, but felt it marred the whole character slightly... As the old saying goes, history only remembers the last thing you did.

Overall, great times, and quite excited about the return of the game!
