Discussion: Electing the Praefectus Vigilum to Urbanus post

Postby JayMichaelBecker on Sat Jun 20, 2009 12:32 am

Senator Narsus Polagius speaks. "We have heard nothing from the Senator earlier nominated to become Praefectus Urbanus, and that says enough for me that he isn't the man for the job. Instead, I say we appoint the Praefectus Vigilium Rufinus Arathae Accarus, who has led both the Vigiles and the Cohortes Urbanae together for the last few years with, and I say this without knowing the man personally, excellent results. He is clearly capable of leading the city's defenses. What say the rest of you?"

Consul Decius Agrippa speaks;

"Senator Polagius makes a fine point. Let us appoint Accarus to the Praefectus Urbanus. I suggest Manius Vibenius Decentius from the Equestrian order to replace him as Praefectus Vigilium, Vibenius is from Baetica and is one of the few Hispanian members of the Praetorian Guard who did not desert and join the rebels in Hispania at the outbreak of the civil war. Recently he has distinguised himself fighting circus gangs in Rome, and returning to Baetica to fight the Friesgoths."

Sejanus Flavianus spoke: "Rufinus Arathae Accarus, has done an excellent job leading the vigiles and the cohortes. I doubt there is anyone more qualified to the place of Praefectus Urbanus."

Marcus Fallentus stood...

"I would like to put my name forward for the position of either Praefectus Vigiles or Praefectus Urbanus, I have strong military experience as well as the fact that I have strong links within the political, economic and military establishments means that I am able to rely on excellent advice. I believe I can serve both Rome and our Emperor with honor and uphold this cities position as the greatest in the world." he paused so that all in the Senate were able to hear his words.

"I have no alliegences to families just to the Emperor and the Empire I feel with the backround that I stated earlier I can bring added honor and prestige to the post."

Marcus Fallentus sat after making his speech
