As we all know our Roman Empire turned out somewhat different to the historical one. Now considering the recent military expedition by Val's legions against the Rugians. Would it be possible, for our empire to expand further north then the historical Roman Empire, into modern day northern Germany, Denmark ?
Which leads to debate if Mariniara was made Queen of the Goths. Could we see large parts of Germany become a Roman client state with provinces we could one day move into and exploit? _________________ IC: Carus Florianus Julianus

I personally, as a legate in belgica and that area, would love to see rome expand furhter north than it did historicly.
And as for a german/gothic client state.. um..... who have you been talking to? *scowls at you, and plots a late night visit to your home to.. silence you*

Well, I'd like to think that yes, RL's Roman Empire can turn out looking completely different from the historical one. From what I've read on the subject of Rome's fighting in Germania, the area of Germania Magna which is mostly between the Rhine and Elbe rivers was fairly conquered before the Varus disaster at Teutonberg. It was only then, with the loss of so many legions at one moment that Rome took more of a defensive look into that realm. So perhaps, with a lack of Teutonberg in RL, we might expand much farther into Germania than the historical Empire. _________________ Hadrianus Sylivios

Anything is possible, but it should be done properly. Honestly, from a GM standpoint, I'm not against it. But from a practical standpoint... more money... more resources are available in the east... ESPECIALLY Asia Minor. I think before you start expanding into Germania Magna... you start taking Asia Minor... which can PAY more times over... for places like Germany and Britain which don't add a lot of income to the empire and which... more likely will end up costing more than it will make back in profits. _________________ Neos Dionysos - Phil

I've been expecting war in the east since Severus Marius Gracchus went out there, and lost his wife to some persian king. _________________ Presently: Tiberius Lucius Carus

You mean there is a *difference* between all those hairy northern barbarians?
Who knew!
Is it based on length of unkempt facial hair, perhaps? Or is that only the women? _________________ Andy

Well Gauls will one day be Franks, who in time become French. (hence why they are such bitches now).... Germans are well... Germans. Always will be I guess.. effecient, violent, intimdating. Gotta love the germans. And the Goths.. are ancient Vikings. So MAJOR differences between them all. _________________ Presently: Tiberius Lucius Carus

Funny how none of you can have a discussion without turning it into a strange asterisk-infested face making contest. I am laughing as I type this, but I can't bring myself to put out a colon/parenthesis combo.
Northern expansion people! Let's talk about invading vast swathes of cold, wet forest full of sword wielding beer drinking bearded barbarians!
At this point in the game, Britannia should be invaded. PC's have have numerous excursions and caused all sorts of trouble, good and bad, there. Fresh slaves! Raw materials! Make it happen already, jeez.
Sure the east is rich and exciting, but... it's not cold and wet.
As for more Gothic lands... keep going. Use the resources available and instigate some things.
Though, my supreme wish is that you military wackos would work on your immediate areas, your legions and your character developement instead of always looking for war. There are always things to deal with where you are. Ok, here comes the colon/parenthesis... !!! _________________ Ferus Juventas, GM

All of your commets except for the "Germans" are wrong... FYI.
Gauls are celts more or less. The Franks are a Germanic People than come from Eastern Europe in the later centuries and then settle in the lands of modern day France. "Gauls" are locals and so fuse with over time Romans and then Visigoths and then Franks.
Goths, are from two places. Either, from Ukraine area which then makes them actually Slavic in origin as some propose, or that they are an offshoot of Scandinavian peoples and come from the Baltic States area. _________________ Neos Dionysos - Phil

well that answers that. and yeah I knew gauls were celts... I have NO idea why I forgot that.
but yeah.. if thats what they all are, then theres even more difference between them all then what I was thinking. though I still think women of scandanavian descent are abso-farking-lutely hot. _________________ Presently: Tiberius Lucius Carus
