Cassius stood on the podium and spoke in a loud voice as to be heard by every passerby “People of Rome, I come to you with questions from Sillius Ramirus Flavus. He wants to know what you want so he can better serve your needs. Some may call him a rebel and that he was, but no one can question his desire to help the people. He has put forward a proposal not to build some grand monument or pave a road, but to bring wealth to the Roman people, to bring wealth to each and every one of you. He sees the poor in the streets and hears the cries from the man trying to provide for his family or husband looking for work to buy his wife a new dress. Yet some in the senate want to restrict his proposal, limit the types of jobs that would be available to you. An everyday he goes into the senate he fights to keep his proposal intact…for you… the people!”
The crowd began to grow as he spoke the men of wealth mostly affected by the proposal could be seen leaving as more onlookers stopped to listen.
“He is not doing this for personal gain. He stands to lose money from his own proposal and why? Why would a man put his own fortune at risk for his fellow county man?”
“why” “why” why” “Ah why?” The crowd exploded in a furry of questions.
Cassius raised his hand to quite the crowd “I know why he does it! He does it so we Romans can live well! Whatever you may think about him personally, he still fights for you, against those who seek to keep the jobs in the hands of slaves. Against men some of have never been up on a horses back, that run and cry to their patrons to stop him in the senate. I say let your voices be heard let the message spread from tavern to tavern. Tell every citizen and freedman in every brothel, inn and insulae. Tell every passerby that SILLIUS RAMIRUS FLAVUS will work to get you what you need and want…JOBS!
