The old guard of the Senate, old in more ways now than just their ideological timeline, has remained silent in the Senate during the numerous debates and speeches calling for massive spending of the Empire's flush treasury. It's been rumored they are collaborating with their new moderate successors to try and eventually reign in the attempts to bleed the empire dry, as well as perhaps secure enough silent votes to continually fail proposals they can't argue down.
