In 2004 when I played my first character it wasn’t even an option to pause time and wait for those who stalled. It has nothing to do with GM’s its players who don’t get their things together when they should. In-Character the east has a good number of players who are excited to get this underway but due to stalls from certain individuals it’s made impossible. I don’t find it fair to the players (myself included) that we should have to post date upcoming scenarios because YOU couldn’t meet certain deadlines. Many of the PC’s are missing out on other important things that our characters could be doing right now in our In-Game careers.

Perhaps I don’t have any grounds to be submitting this message but it doesn’t just go for the east. It recent activity it’s been happening other places as well. If you can’t handle the role your playing, or keep up with the work involved can you contact a GM and let them know?.. Its sad when we’re all left in the dark.

Amen!!!! As a player who has been plagued by players not doing their work, I find it very unfair that time should be stopped or post dated for another players lack of initiative and responsibility. I have a lot of other stuff I could be doing but instead I am stuck waiting on another player not only in the North but in the East too. I have one scenario that is post dated for a year and a half ago now and it has great implications on my current status, yet due to one player stalling on submitting and or writing his part, I don’t know the outcome of a scenario that has implications in just about every aspect of my PC’s life.

This is unfair on many levels, inhibits the enjoy-ability of the game and quite frankly can bring a dead stop to the game while, like in my case, you’re stuck waiting months for another player just so you can know where you stand. I beg other players to respect your fellow players and do your work on time.

Guys, I agree, it's very frustrating and can slow down the game. I myself have been more than guilty of this in the past.

But, I would say you do have to have patience. We all have real lives outside the game, and be that in college, work or whatever it is you choose to spend your time in, we all have other priorities. I can say for a certain fact that RL is not at the top of mine.

With postdating though, it often is necessary. It's impossible to write lengthy scenarios covering war-time in particular overnight. I know I'm overly long with my own scenarios, but writing is, for me at least, the fun part of the game. Essentially, as at the moment in the east, you can have two or three scenarios potentially spanning a 'game time' of three weeks (or even three days). It's impossible to churn all of those out on time (I for one have a couple of spare hours a week for writing, so do what I can).

I know we're held up, but we're not losing anything, and if we keep track through the post dating, once the actions over, we can catch up in no time.

I will say this once... and straight to the point...

We ALL know that a major war, ESPECIALLY one involving so many PC's, makes the game pause.

#1: for things to be fair and for every PC to get a chance to contribute means delays and time loss because we all know how hard it is to get a lot of people together etc, and then to not only write but then combine all pieces together into a coherent text.

#2: it takes a LOT of time from a GM to go through everything, what every player is doing and posting it all on a timely fashion since again... we DO have lives outside RL.

#3: Ben is the only GM working on the East, cut him some FRAKING slack. I'm not GMing because of IOV, John helps out when he can but he has never done anything military and Jay has been AWOL, I'm sure ATV can attest to a lot of work he's done in the Danube but it's been neglected cause of inactive GMs.

So, in conclusion, if you're pissed off, FRAK OFF. Because when we "rush" things people bitch because it's not fair and they're left out of the involvement, when we take to much time, things go to slow, when we try a half and half approach someone bitches it takes too long and others bitch they aren't getting their voices heard. So as a person who's been a GM far longer than a player I'm sick of hearing these things. If you're that pissed off then leave!

Phil, as I stated in my post it is not the GM's fault. I spoke to Ben about it.. and for days now we've been waiting for a certain individual to shed light on certain situations so we can move forward and this has been happening before this war. Another instance is whats happened in the Danube. I like the fact we can pause the game.. but like Tiberius Varro stated, when a scenario is post dated a year and a half ago due to negligence of a PC not wanting to write his part then whats known as the "NORM" in war-time delays isn't the case...

Post dating a year and a half back, I agree is unreasonable.

Notice though that the northern scenarios are ALWAYS post dated by Phil. I like this. It means that when a player reads it, they can respond to it immediately as by the time that the scenario is posted, the news would have reached rome (unless its secret, like the assassination of the senator in britania).

I know in the past, when players have gone AWOL or just not done what they are supposed to do like this situation (from what I have heard of it).. they are usualy just killed off by admins or other players, ESPECIALY when something big like this is going on. Wasnt it a former emperor who did something like this while leading a war in teh north? Ended up dieing off from illness, and beginning the entire Marhoweverhernameisspelled. saga.

Imperator Suetonius Valens Piso you refer to. Yes, he did just vanish one day - I don't believe anyone knows what happened to him - he simply, in the style of Keyser Soze, disappeared as soon as he got the throne. Left me right up the kybosh as well.

Fact of the matter is though, we have to post date. But, if there's an unreasonable delay, and no attempt to contact anyone... well, we all know there'll be consequences...

oh I agree fully. from what I hear, this situation in the east is beyond reasonable. I am just amazed with Bens patience on it. I think we need to encourage him to get a lil.. Darcy-like on the offenders ass.
